MaptiveIQ - How to Manually Color In Boundaries to Create a Territory

You can create a territory out of any boundary set. Even if you start the process with with the boundaries filled with your data you can override them by assigning a territory manually.

Open the Boundary Tool

Step 1: Open Map Tools.

Step 2: Open the Boundary Tool. 

Add the boundary set you want to color in.

If you already have a boundary set on the map you can skip straight to the next step

Step 1: Open the Boundary Tool

Step 2: Select the Boundary Set you want to add. "US States"  in the example

Step 3: Select a fill option. In this example we choose  No Fill /Manual Fill however any starting fill can be manually overridden.

Step 4: Click Load Boundaries

Create your Territory Manually

Step 1: Open the boundary tool

Step 2: Scroll down to the boundary set you want to use

Step 3: Click the Set Manual Fill Button

Step 4: This will bring up the Boundary Selection Tool and display the steps for the method you choose (A)

Step 5: You can select from On Click, On Hover, or Lasso Tool. Each option is explained below

Step 6: Click Start in that window to start creating your territory.

Step 7: Follow the instructions on the right (A) or keep reading below

For On Click

Step 8: Click on the first boundary you want to add

Step 9: Click the next boundary

Step 10: Click the final boundary

For On Hover

Step 8: Click on the first boundary you want to add

Step 9: Hover the cursor over the next boundary  

Step 10: Hover the cursor over the final boundary and click again to stop the hover affect.

Note: you can repeat steps 8-10 multiple times to add multiple unconnected areas

For Lasso Tool  

Option 5A: Before clicking Start you can select Full Boundaries Only, which will only select boundaries that are 100% inside of the area you draw or Full and Partial Boundaries which will select every boundary that has any part inside the are you draw

Step 8: Draw your lasso area

Step 8A: Click the map to start drawing your polygon.

Step 8B: Click the map multiple times to add additional points to the polygon outline.

Step 8C: Click the starting point or double click the map to complete the shape.

Step 9: The boundaries that fall within the lasso area will get highlighted

Step 10: You can reset the and start over at Step 8 if it did not select the correct boundaries

Step 11: Click Save

That will bring up a popup

Step 12: Choose what to do with the boundaries

Option A: Add Boundaries to Existing Fill Group - This will allow you to select from other fill groups on the map to add these boundaries to. This will also remove them from all other fill groups

Option B: Remove Boundaries from Fill Group - This will allow you to select from other fill groups on the map to remove these boundaries from that group.

Option C: Create new Fill Group - This will allow you to create a new fill group by naming it and selecting its settings

Step 13: Click Done

For Option C an additional popup will appear. Enter a Name and Save

Step 14: After you are done you will be returned to step 4 and can repeat the steps to make another manual selection.

Step 15: You boundary will be added to the map.

Step 16: You can cancel the manual editing process
