MaptiveIQ - Labeling Your Markers

With Maptive, you can add labels to your markers in four different ways. Marker labels allow you to add additional visualized information to the location markers plotted on your map.

Follow the steps shown below to label the markers on your map:

How to Add Labels to All Markers

Step 1: Open Map Settings.

Step 2: Click to expand the Map Markers / Graphics options:

Step 3: Toggle the options below to the 'On' position.

A - Labels inside markers (from data):

1: When you toggle the 'Labels Inside Markers' to the 'On' position, a popup window will appear where you can expand the drop-down menu.

2: Choose which column data you want to display as your 'label inside marker.'

3: Click 'Save' to generate the labels on your map.

4: When you toggle on 'Labels Inside Markers,' the default marker symbols are replaced with the downward-pointing label text box. Those labels can be clicked on just like your markers to bring up the information in the pop up box. Below is an example of how it would appear:

B - Labels above markers (from data):

1: When you toggle the 'Labels Above Markers' to the 'On' position, a popup window will appear where you can expand the drop-down menu.

2: Choose which column data you want to display as your 'label above marker.'

3: Click 'Save' to generate the labels on your map.

4: When you toggle on 'Labels Above Markers,' the downward-pointing label text boxes will appear 'above' each marker symbol on the map. Below is an example of how it would appear:

C - Numeric label markers (1, 2, 3, ...):

When you toggle on 'Labels Inside Markers,' the default marker symbols are replaced with the downward-pointing label text box. These numeric labels use the row number in your Map Data. So, whatever is in row 1 would be labeled as marker 1.

Below is an example of how it would appear:

When you toggle 'On' both A (Labels inside markers) and B (Labels above markers):

When you toggle 'On' both B (Labels above markers) and C (Numeric label markers):

Please note: You can only toggle 'On' A (Labels inside markers) or C (Numeric label markers) at a time.

Optional Step 4: You can customize how your 'Labels inside markers' and the 'Labels above markers' would appear on the map.

Click 'Open' to see a popup window with various customization options like border color, background (label) color, background opacity, font color, and font size, and view the marker preview before you click 'Save.'

How to Select a Column of Your Data to Use as the Info Popup Marker Label

You can label or associate a column of data as the title for the marker, which will be displayed in the info popup on the right-hand side of the map when you click on a marker.

To use a specific column of your data as the label/title, you'll need to 'match up your data' using the Map Data.

Step 1: Open the Map you want to add info popup marker labels, and go to the Map Data.

Step 2: Click on 'Categorize Data.'

Step 3: A popup window will appear where you can match your data. Scroll down to the "Set the Info Popup on your Map" section and pick the column you want to match up with Location Name / Title.

Step 4: Click 'Done' to save your selection and ensure it matches the data column.

Step 5: Go to the Map view and adjust the zoom levels.

Step 6: Select a location marker. The data in the column you choose will be displayed as your info popup label. For example, if you choose 'Name,' your info popup label on the right-hand side of the map might look like this when you click on the location marker:
