MaptiveIQ - How to Use the Drive Time Polygon Tool

Maptive’s Drive Time Polygon Tool allows you to see the area of the map you can drive to in a give time. You can generate the drive time polygon from any marker or by going to the tool directly and entering in an address.

How to add a Drive Time Polygon to the Map

Step 1: Click to Map Tools 

Step 2: Click on the Drive Time Polygon Tool

Step 3: Enter in the address you want to add the drive time polygon to, or click on a marker and add the address directly from the right side menu.

Step 4: Add in the number of hours and/or minutes you want the polygon to represent

Step 5: Click "Add Drive Time Polygon"

Step 6: Maptive will now add the drive time polygon to your map. Please note, the drive time is based on perfect driving conditions and does not take historical or current traffic into account.

Step 6(a) : The drive time is added to the list here. You can hide the polygon by clicking the eye, or access a variety of functions using the 3 dots menu

Step 6(b) : When clicking on the polygon the right side panel will open and display, show the address, and give you the number of locations that fall inside the polygon

Step 6(c) : You can also see aggregated data about the markers inside this area, which can be customized by clicking "Customize Metrics". You can learn more about that Customizing Metrics

How to Hide a Drive Time Polygon

Click on the Eye Icon in the selected Proximities list or the Bottom Active Tools Bar

How to Delete a Drive Time Polygon

To delete the polygon from the map permanently click on the 3 dot menu then click "Delete Polygon". This will bring up a popup confirm you want to delete the polygon here

How to Customize a Drive Time Polygon

To edit the polygon click on the 3 dot menu then click "Edit Proximity".

This will bring up a new popup where you can rename the polygon, change its color, opacity, and travel time.

After making changes be sure to click "Save". If you don't want to save your changes click the X at the top right of the popup.

Exporting Data from a Drive Time Polygon.

You can export data from the 3 dot menu in either the Drive Time Polygon tool or in the right side menu  after clicking on a polygon.

Option 1: Export your spreadsheet rows that fall within the polygon. To export just the data in one polygon click in the 3 dots then "Export Locations". If you want to export the data for all polygons and radii click "Export File"

Option 2: Export boundaries that fall within the polygon. This allows you to get a list of all of a certain boundary type like Zip Codes, or Counties that are either fully inside, or are at least partially inside the drive time polygon.
