MaptiveIQ - How to Use the Lasso Tool
The Lasso Tool allows you to draw a polygon on the map and then interact with the markers or boundaries inside the area drawn. You can export those markers as an excel, Optimize a Route to all of them, Delete Them, Edit the Data as a Group, or Export Boundaries like zip codes from inside them.
To use the Lasso Tool, follow these steps:
Step 1: Engage the Lasso Tool by clicking the lasso icon on the right side of your map.

Step 2: As soon as you click the lasso icon, you'll notice that it will be highlighted in blue. This means you can begin drawing your lasso.
To begin, click on the map near the outside edge of the area you want to draw. Then move the cursor and click again. Each click will add a line to the polygon. To complete the shape you can click on the starting point or double click. Then a popup window will appear.

Step 3: Choose what you would like to do with the markers in the lasso area you have drawn.

You have five options:
Option A: Export location data to a file. This will export the rows of your data that fall inside the shape you drew. You can choose the file format from the available options or even Copy the data to Clipboard.

Option B: You can edit data as a group. This allows you to change a column of data for all the markers you have lassoed at once. This will reflect in your data tab as well.
In the examples below all the Markers will now have a Salesperson of John Doe.
Warning: If you check the "Batch Edit" box next to a column that is empty it will remove the data from that column

Option C: You can create an optimized driving route to all locations.
This option will take you to the Routing/Directions tool. For details, refer to <PAGE>

Option D: This allows you to export all boundaries in a given area like zips, cities etc, including those you have not imported into your map. You can export them from the given boundaries or from your created territories.

Option E: You can do a batch deletion of all locations you lassoed on your map. This is a permanent deletion and will not only delete the markers from your map but from your data tab as well.
Note: You can click on your lasso area again to get these five options.
Close the Lasso Tool: Your lasso selection will remain on your map until you click the X to remove it. Alternatively, you can remove your lasso by clicking the lasso icon again to turn off the feature.
