Layering Multiple Maps
Layering two maps or multiple maps is as simple as clicking a button. The map layering feature allows you to combine 2 or more maps (data sets) into one aggregated map. Once created, you'll be able to look at each layer (data set) independently or in combination with other layers. To get started creating your layered map, just follow these steps.
- You will find the layer button from any tab in Maptive on the top right side of your screen.
- Once clicked you will be prompted to name your new layered map:
- Name your map and click continue. Now choose the maps you want to layer:
- Now that you've chosen the maps you want to layer next match-up will give you a comparison of the columns and what they are matching to. They do not have to match to layer:
- Once you click layer the maps will combine and layer. Now go to the Grouping Tool (How to Use The Grouping Tool) and group by Map. This will define one map from the other by coloring the markers according to which original map it belonged to. Your original maps are still in tact as individual maps. The layered map is its own copy, so anything you do on the layered copy will not effect the original maps or data sets.
