Sharing Your Maps

How to Share Your Maps:

You can share your map with other individuals and optionally require a password, or you can publish your map publicly to the web. Maps can quickly be embedded within a webpage or blog using one line of simple HTML code. You can ensure a perfect fit of the map within your page by changing the height and width values.

To share your map, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your map.

Step 2: Locate and click on the Share icon found on the left hand column on your map:

The following options window will appear when you click on the icon:

Step 3: Set your map privacy level.

There are 2 privacy options available: Password Protected and Public.

Public doesn't mean just anyone can find your maps. It simply means when the person you are sharing the map with receives the link, all they have to do is click on the link to open the map.

With Password Protected, the map can only have one password. So even if you share the map with many people they would all get the same password. Changing the password will lock all shared users out of accessing the map as will deleting the map.

Step 4: Select your starting map view.

There are 2 view options available:

Share your default map: this shares the map just as you see it when you open it. There are no filters activated, though you can give them access to the filter tool the map will not already be filtered for them. And there are no routes on the map.

Share your current map view: The only time you need to share a map view is when you are filtering the map so when the user clicks on the link the map will already be filtered for them. Or if you are sharing a route where the route is already on the map for them. See screenshot below

Step 5: Select your sharing method.

You can either email a map link right from Maptive, the first option.

Or you can choose to copy/paste the shared map link into your own email.

See screenshot below.

To embed your map on your website or blog, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your map.

Step 2: Locate and click on the Embed icon found on the left hand column on your map:

The following options window will appear when you click on the icon:

Step 3: Copy your embed code. You can also customize the width and height at this point.

Step 4: Paste the code into your website page or blog.

Don't forget to set the privacy level to public before you embed your map!
